Never Ending Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette NIGHTMARE

Hi beauty bugs welcome back to my blog!

I feel this Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette story has been a never ending nightmare for myself!  For those who don’t know my story of this issue I would love to refresh your memory.  When I first started this blog I posted a post Confessions of a Crying Wallet where I purchased the Naked 3 Palette off of eBay for REALLY CHEAP.

This is the picture that the lady had for the selling item.

I should of known from their that there was something wrong with this product, but I didn’t think anything of it until it arrived. When it arrived it was so disappointing! The palette came all crooked, and the mirror was like someone cut a piece of fake glass and just glued in right in where the glass was supposed to be placed.

Fake plastic mirror that isn’t even clear!

As you can see the first 2 colors are dented out wards.

The palette didn’t come with the primers, and the box was ripped. Lesson learned DO NOT BUY YOUR MAKEUP ON eBay! But only if you plan to email the seller first to make sure what you want to purchase is legit.  The next thing I did was email the seller to only find out that I purchased a REPLICA! A replica?! A damn friggin’ REPLICA!!!  Which you can read here I Messed Up!!😭😭.  That explains why I got it for the price that I purchased it at, but to not put it in your selling item description that I’m buying a replica is a little bit of a disgrace.  The seller told me eBay does NOT let her put REPLICA in the description so you would have no idea that your buying a replica or the real thing.. which I find really hard to believe.  I decided I was going to keep this palette because it would give me good practice for when I did finally buy a real one.  I used this one to experiment with, and do whatever/mess up looks with!

On June 26th I was sitting in the nail salon getting my toes done, and BAM I got a notification for a makeup auction on Tophatter.com.  For those who are unsure of what Tophatter is I recently put a post up on this amazing site called Tophatter.com which you can read if you click that link. Tophatter is basically this awesome live auction website where you can buy all types of different makeup, and designer products when they are at live auction. DO YOU THINK I LEARNED MY LESSON YET? LOL!! Of course I didn’t!  So I was so interested to check out this notification, and see what kind of makeup the seller was selling.  Behold a few items away there was a Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette that was going to go up for sale.  At that point I knew I just had to have it! When the item finally became live it became a all out bidding war!! It was between another lady, and myself.  But of course I won! I was not giving up without a fight!  I paid 40$ for the palette, and $8 shipping.  I was so excited because I made sure I asked the seller, and checked out the description to make sure it was real, and she stated it was 100% authentic! I would have my item in a few days, and I couldn’t be more thrilled!

The sellers picture of the product on Tophatter

A few days have passed and clearly I am a package tracking stalker so you know I was checking USPS every other day with the tracking number that was provided.  Until I noticed something out of the ordinary.. The package was shipped from Brooklyn! That meant the seller was actually living only 15 minutes away from me, and that’s in traffic! If the package was being shipped from Brooklyn to Brooklyn then it should be here any day RIGHT?!?!.  But with my luck of course this wasn’t going to come easy like it should of! Instead of going from Brooklyn to Brooklyn the package went to Brooklyn, Atlanta, and then Brooklyn.  I was so furious! I waited almost 2 weeks for this package to come.  For the inconvenience the seller gave me $2 USD back on shipping, and the day I found out she was in Brooklyn I ordered more things from her so she included a few freebies with my newer purchase.

My Urban Decay Naked Palette finally came, and I was so excited to rip open the packing to only be disappointed by this!!

The palette came all broken in the mail.

You can see from the picture above that the palette I was so excited to get, and couldn’t wait to open looked like this! The color that was all broken was burnout which was the color I used the most of especially in my replica palette so I was beyond furious at this point.  The next step I did was contact the seller immediately, but what I should of done was ring her door bell! It took her a whole day to get back to me, and I asked her “Can we just meet up and swap the bad one for a good one?”.  She apologized, and said it must of been the crazy commute from BK, ATL, and BK again that the palette got messed up, but never answered about the meetup or the swap out.  It made no sense to do it any other way because we lived so close to each other.  I emailed her again asking lets meet up, and swap this out only this time I was totally ignored.  It wasn’t for days until I was ready to make a case against her did I finally get a message back from her saying that it was against Tophatters policy to meet in person, and that if I wanted a swap I would have to send it through USPS or just get a refund.  I was done at this point I told her I’m not paying for postage to return this item since you live only 5 minutes away BTW  I’m already on my way to your house to drop it off to you.  Long story short I left the palette in her mail box, and just a complete refund the next day.

They say third times a charm right?! Well even if its not after this crazy experience I was going to make it the charm.  A few days after all this non-sense that went on with this ridiculous damn palette I made my boyfriend take me to Sephora inside of JCPenny’s where I just purchased the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette MYSELF, and did not rely on crappy shipping or replicas this time around.  This decision was the best decision I have ever made.  I learned from this whole experience if you want something just go to the store, and buy it yourself!

  1. Aw thats so messed up 😦 but don’t give up on eBay I have bought soo much makeup online! You just need to make sure they are an eBay trusted seller! I have found a few cosmetic company accounts and love purchasing from them – they come in a big box full of bubble wrap!

  3. You have to be so careful, but I am glad you’ve finally got it! I’ve managed to get some really good bits on eBay for makeup, but only lower brands and a couple of pounds cheaper (or just something I can’t get around me).
There’s so many ungenuine sellers for higher end products on eBay.
I’d recommend watching fakes videos on YouTube before buying products, some are super helpful!
Can’t wait to see some look with your new palette 🙂 xxx

    1. Tell me about it! I still love top hatter though! I got so many great beauty products off of that site =) My favorite combo is going to be Dust, Burnout, and Liar! Whats your favorite combination I would love to try something new?

      1. I need to try Top Hatter. For my combo:

        Natural: Burnout (lid), Limit/Mooner(crease), Factory(Outer-V)

        Glam/Night-Out: Trick(lid), Limit/Mooner(crease), Strange (highlight), and Blackout(outer-V)
Hope that helps for some things to try.

  4. I think it’s really hard to find good suff on eBay. Some people are really dishonest when it comes to business.. I’d rather go to the boutique myself to purchase the product. After readiing so many horror stories about fake makeup, I don’t think I’ll even buy one just to play with…
There’s another popular website selling super cheap beauty products – stawberry (dot) net and gosh they sell fake, near expiry products, and discontinued products!

    1. Oh wow I have never heard of that site before and it just sounds bad all around! Im very cautious now when I buy online. Top hatter right now is the only site ill buy from that I trust minus that one instance. I bought a handful of items off top hatter, and I am loving the stuff I bought.

  5. Ugh what a pain! I never shop on eBay because I had a similar experience except with perfume! I bought the perfume and it it made my skin irritated and the scent didn’t last as long.

    1. Oh no that sucks! I am so careful with what I buy online now but Tophatter is pretty good minus that hick up. I actually got some pretty cool things off that site.

      1. I love it!! I got a Tarte gel blush from there, Urban Decays 24/7 Velvet eye liner, and my too faced air BB cream off of their. No complaints on all that stuff LOL

  6. Oh no!! That whole experience just sucks. 😦 I buy a ton of stuff on Ebay, but always check reviews on the sellers. I have had my share of bad experiences, too, but Ebay has been pretty good about helping me get a refund. I’m glad you finally got your palette!!! 🙂

      1. On Ebay, f2plus1, jessiemarket, freya-net1996, happy-monster, and beautyholic4u are all shops I have bought from and had a great experience. Usually when I buy from them I also get free samples which is always fun! For specific Korean (or generally Asian) beauty products, I review those on my blog. 🙂 Hope that was helpful!

  7. I’m so sorry this happened to you! That is awful! After hearing so many horror stories I just buy it directly from the company or buy from Ulta or Sephora. It saves a lot of trouble! xo

    1. That is exactly what Im going to be doing for now on! Right from the store, or the stores website! It was so crazy what I experienced it doesn’t even seem real LOL

  8. I never dare buy makeup from eBay because they’re are a lot of fakes around, and some of them can be full of ingredients that will really damage your skin…so I’d rather pay a little more and buy it from a shop, or wait until the brand have a sale and buy it direct from their website!

  9. This sounds like a nightmare! It’s a shame people take advantage of those after a bargain. As a seller of branded items, including toiletries and make up, the main question I get is ‘Is this real (brand name)?’. Any authentic seller will never be offended when you ask so it’s always worth checking. You can also usually tell by their feedback and the other products they sell. Also, real sellers will always accept returns and pay for the return if the item is damaged.

I will be doing a post on tips and how to check branded make up before the weekend as have come across a few articles and complaints now.

I’m glad you managed to sort it out, and were able to pick it up in store. It’s just a shame for the people who are unable to.

    1. It was such a nightmare and shame on me for not contacting the seller first and thinking it was nothing LOL. This was definitely a valuable lesson learned and I hope to only help others not make the same mistake I have😊 please let me know when your article is out I would love to read it! Xo
