Long behold after waiting ONE year on Sephora’s Play wait list I finally received an email that I was off the wait list and if you want to subscribe to this monthly subscription than you better get your ass on it and do it ASAP. So I did what any natural makeup addict would do, and SIGNED UP! 🙈 Im sure everyone’s been hearing the hype, and rave about these beauty boxes from Sephora but are they really worth the wait, and the hype that people have been going crazy for since they announced Play! By Sephora?!
Sephora Play like many other beauty box subscriptions is only $10 USD a month and you get a handful of sample size products from all of Sephoras high end brands each month. Now I was super excited for this one because CMON its Sephora! Who doesn’t love Sephora?!
PS This review is SOOO LATE because I received this box SOOO LATE! I received this box the last week of May when they took the money out of account on May 1st. Whats up with that Sephora?! Ipsy & Boxycharm comes in a timely matter..This left a bad taste in my mouth! 😒
This is what I received in my Sephora Play box for the month of May and this box is my FIRST ever Sephora Play box that I have ever received!!😁😁
It kinda of reminds me of Birchbox and BoxyCharm put together with more pizzazz to the outside of their pretty stripped Sephora signature look!
May’s theme is the “The Forces of Nature”
Inside the box it there is a brochure type paper that gives you a breakdown of every product that’s in this box. Right on top there is a Sephora Play card which gives you 50 EXTRA beauty insider points next time you make an in store purchase. There is no minimum of how much you spend to get those extra insider points!
“Lets Play Beauty Together”
The bag that comes with box, and all of the samples for May are in this cute little bag! Which I already gave this bag away to one of my friends since my house is overwhelmed with Ipsy bags already!
I was not KIDDING when I said the product information was brochure size! You get the breakdown of everything on every product you received!
Here are ALL the products I received in Mays subscription box! As you can see I received 6 sample size beauty products from all different brands.
Here is my product breakdown of all the product I received in this box!
- An intensive weekly treatment to restore essential hydration and enhance hair’s resilience to protect against future damage.
- An overnight facial-in-a-jar to address uneven skin tone while improving skin texture for a brighter, more luminous complexion in as little as one night. Solutions for:
– Dullness and uneven texture
– Uneven skin tone
– Loss of firmness and elasticity
- Orange Sanguine, a zesty and energizing burst of crushed ripe fruit, plays off sweet blood orange juice against bitter orange peel and sensual notes of geranium. Complete with a handcrafted leather cap and a removable pump that allows for splash or spray use, this cologne brings to mind relaxed mornings, sunrises, and soft sea breezes.
**This product did come with two different origins masks to test out with the primer**

Great for use with every type of mask except peel-off, it softens skin and boosts hydration levels.
COLOR Kimchi – Shocking Pink

Swipe on bold, creamy lip color with Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche. Created and crafted by hand, Bite’s small batch, low-heat process preserves a balanced blend of lip-quenching nutrients, vitamins, and omega oils that are essential for achieving healthy-looking lips. Made with 12 edible oils and triple milled pigments, this lipstick provides saturated lip color with weightless coverage and a citrus flavor made from fresh pressed fruit.
COLOR Latergram – mauve
- What it is:
A two-in-one lip liner that helps prime and line lips for a perfectly-contoured look. What it does:
Line on unique lip looks with tarte’s twist-up, precise, tarteist™ Lip Crayon. This versatile lip crayon helps you to easily get vibrant lips with its creamy, easy-glide formula that imparts rich, hydrating pigment in just one swipe. Featuring an automatic twist-up tool, its crisp, tapered tip to help contour and accentuate your natural lip line, leaving you primed and coated with lip-loving™ ingredients while preventing feathering. Finish off with an expertly-coordinating shade of the tarteist lip paint (sold separately) to complete the look.
I have been adoring this lip liner, and I will be purchasing this full size product in the near future! It goes on really easy, and this color matches my lips so I use this color to give them some fullness before I apply a lipstick!
The only beauty product in this box that I used so far is the tartiest lip crayon. Everything else I have not touched, playeed with our experienced as of yet. I can tell you that I will NOT be using that Bit Beauty Lipstick EVER due to the color being WAY to BRIGHT! It’s not my color, and I unfortunately have no use for it. Swatches & reviews coming soon!
Now for the question I asked earlier…
Is it worth the hype, and excitement?
Honestly, I was so excited to receive this box before I seen what was in it, and so ready to cancel this subscription after I opened it. I was not impressed by May’s box and maybe that’s because I had higher hopes for Sephora Play. Maybe June will be better? I do need it give it a few more chances before I decide to cancel this subscription.
I would love to know what you received in your May Sephora Play Box & If you have used any of these products I received + your thoughts!!! Xo
